N. CORKTOWN POCKET PARK
PROJECT INFO
Location: North Corktown, Detroit, MI
Status: Complete
The North Corktown Commons is a small pocket park established in 2015 when the North Corktown Neighbrohood Association acquired lots from the Detroit Land Bank Authority in order to preserve and promote open green space in the small urban neighborhood located one mile from downtown Detroit.
As residents of the neighborhood, we decided to band together with a few neighbors to develop a design for the park including expanded pathways, a covered picnic shelter, entrance gateway, and a series of lights fed with on-site solar panels. We are currently raising the funds necessary to implement the plan and expect to begin work in Spring 2021.
